When the feelings are mutual
Have you heard the one about the clients who loved their lawyers so much they made a banner? As an oft-maligned profession, attorneys are much more familiar with clients avoiding them than singing their praises, so this was a first for us!
At Medina McKelvey, we love working with all our clients and fostering great relationships. One of the founding principles of the firm is our “Pledge to Clients,” where we document this commitment:
We will be excellent, zealous, and creative advocates for our clients, while at the same time facilitating peace with everyone involved.
We seek to inspire peace in organizations through building relationships, developing trust, creating solutions, providing advice and education, and planting seeds of peace.
We will serve our clients faithfully, efficiently, and with the highest professional and business acumen.
We seek to understand our clients personally and professionally and to understand their business and their relationships with their workforce.
We seek to listen, empathize, and understand our clients’ needs, and to fashion employment solutions that work for their business.
We are always looking for ways to improve the relationship between organizations and their employees; to build bridges and not walls; and to proactively address conflict rather than avoid it.
We always put our clients’ interests above our own when it comes to billing.
Now let’s get back to that amazing banner. NPH is a client relationship we are particularly proud of. Although in completely different industries (NPH is Northern California’s leading healthcare staffing agency), it was clear from our initial conversations that our organizations shared similar values. NPH’s Owner and CEO, Sis Gilmore, embodies the ideal modern-day leader. She effortlessly combines keen business sense with an unmatched compassion for everyone around her. We had the pleasure of working alongside Sis and her team, which includes professionals in business development, finance, human resources, and operations, to further strengthen an already remarkable business.
Medina McKelvey worked with NPH to assist them with navigating California employment laws through our Compliance Plan and process, which is California’s first and only California employment law certification process. The Compliance Plan is designed to systematically review the organization’s policies, procedures, implementation, and enforcement relating to the biggest risks in a typical wage and hour lawsuit, identify ways to reduce future liability, and execute a prioritized plan to increase compliance and protection. NPH also subscribes to our affiliate company’s online wage and hour training, testing, and certification program, California Compliance Solutions.
During these endeavors, we’ve had the privilege of spending a lot of time together remotely and in person. One highlight was our road trip to NPH’s stunning headquarters in Chico, and they came to Roseville a few times to meet with the Medina McKelvey team in person as well, always bearing huge gift baskets with treats for the whole MM team.
Of course, we value our relationship with each of our clients and how we can serve them as legal counsel. But when lawyers are usually the butt of a joke or part of a swear word, it is especially rewarding for us to have a relationship like the one we have with NPH, which is one built on mutual affection and respect. To any other of our clients, we would love to come visit you in person. Hit us up! And to our friends at NPH, thank you so much for the love. It’s clients like you that make what we do worth it! 🧡
To summarize: Check out our pics to see the dope swag and fire banner we got from NPH. Or, as most lawyers would say, attached here, please find photograph evidence of the aforementioned client communications. 😂
