Human Resources Generalist
Our California-based employment law is hiring a Human Resources Generalist with proven prior experience to oversee and execute key HR functions and initiatives, including employee relations, recruiting, training, compensation, benefits, and performance management. This role requires a high degree of independent judgment, strategic decision making, and leadership to align HR practices with organizational goals and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws of a primarily California workforce. With the support of the firm’s leadership team and strategic outsourced advisors, the Human Resources Generalist will build and administer HR processes in a rapidly growing law firm with an innovative approach to the practice of law without the typical law firm stuffy atmosphere.

THE ROLE’S RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop the HR function: Develop and implement systems and processes to make our operations more effective and efficient. Consistently assess HR processes and recommend improvement opportunities.
Hiring, onboarding, and offboarding: Take full responsibility for the employee life cycle from recruitment through off-boarding. Facilitate recruitment through preparation of job descriptions, compliant job postings, screening candidates, and guiding candidates through the conditional offer phase. Oversee the onboarding of employee to ensure all necessary documentation is secured and support orientation of the employee. Ensure all off-boarding procedures are followed in accordance with policies and legal requirements.
Administration and compliance: Ensure the firm’s operations and practices are in adherence with all policies and procedures and ensure they are current and compliant with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Maintain updated employee files, workplace posters, and policies. Support payroll process, trainings, and benefit administration, including open enrollment. Oversee workers’ compensation, leaves of absence, and be a resource for all employees.
Strategic partner to leadership team and managers to support high-performing and engaged teams: Support the firm’s culture and performance expectations with the administration and development of employee training, professional development, and performance management processes.
Advise the leadership team: Provide the leadership team with strategic insights into the firm’s HR needs with a collaborative spirit.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS THIS BACKGROUND
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
HR certification, such as the SHRM-CP or PHR, preferred.
Proven experience in a hands-on HR role with a strong background in employee relations, recruiting, training, and benefits, leading both hourly and salaried employee populations. Experience in a law firm or similar professional services environment is a plus but not required.
Knowledge of federal and California employment laws and HR best practices.

Working Conditions, Compensation, & Benefits
This is a full-time position with standard working hours, Monday to Friday. The Human Resources Generalist is an in-office role in our Roseville, California office, with opportunities for partial remote work.
We reasonably anticipate that the range for this position’s starting salary will be between $70,000 to $90,000 per year, based on factors such as qualifications and experience.
